Functional Safety Engineer (Cat. Prot. l.68/99)

We're looking for a Functional Safety Engineer that will be involved with the development of the vehicle and propulsion features, including semi and fully automated driver assistance systems and enablers.  The Engineer is responsible for performing functional safety analyses and executing related tasks for Maserati vehicles. This includes performing vehicle and system level hardware and software analysis to identify potential safety impacts, developing safety requirements and supporting other activities in accordance with the Maserati Functional Safety Engineering Process and some of the specific activities development of Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) for features via hazard analysis, safety plans, safety cases, and other ISO 26262 work products. In addition, the engineer will interact with other vehicle teams and suppliers.

Main activities


Perform, support and/or manage the execution of System Safety tasks, for example: 

  • Item Definition
  • Hazard Analysis
  • Functional Safety Concept 
  • Technical Safety Concept
  • Support validation and verification team in DVP development and execution of Safety Case development
  • Participate in design discussions to ensure that the safety requirements are implemented and adequate
  • Support design activities, ADF/FTA/DFMEA- Support both in house and supplier lead development


  • Support product development as member of a cross functional team
  • Review supplier functional safety deliverables to assure Maserati requirements are supported
  • Participate safety reviews of functional safety process work products’
  • Actively participate in functional safety workgroups, as assigned, to support development or improvement in processes





  • Master’s degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Computer Engineering 
  • English (proficient use) – B2 minimum required
  • IBM Doors or similar Requirements Management Tools (preferred)
  • Mathworks Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow (preferred)
  • Embedded controls languages (preferred)
  • Functional Safety Tools as ANSYS Medini or others (preferred)
  • Being accountable, autonomous and able to work within a team and by objectives
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry (at least 7-8 years) 
  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety application (3+ years)
  • E/E safety-relevant systems (preferred)
  • Vehicle interface functions (preferred)
  • System FMEA, System FTA (preferred)
  • Understanding of Safety of the Intended function (SOTIF) 
  • Max 10% of time required for travel to Suppliers or other company sites
